Easy ways to make your living room look larger
Using a bright color to zhush up your living room is always a good idea. Since we spend most of our time here, we might as well boost our mood with some bright colored objects or a wall. Adding a couple of bright items goes a long way as well as using different textures, patterns or wallpapers. Here are the best ideas to make your living room look brighter and larger than it actually is.
1 Pairing certain types of colors can make your living room seem much bigger than it is: white walls paired with icy blue are perfect for that. This combination tricks our eyes so we perceive spaces more spacious. Light and bright colors make a room look larger; however, dark colors have the opposite effect, so be careful with them. When it comes to decorating the living room, it’s best to use light colors for both the walls and the furniture.
2 More often than not, we use artificial lights – it’s quite cheap and very convenient. Natural light, however, makes rooms much more spacious, so it’s worth investing in getting bigger windows. Bigger windows also make us feel like we’re closer to nature and we tend to feel more at home in spaces like that.
3 The „less is more” principle applies to furnishing the living room as well. Try not to have too much going on in your living room – a few simple items of furniture will help you feel better. Go for modern, comfortable pieces and swap huge sofas for smaller couches.
4 Mirrors work wonders. Installing a mirror enhances the space by making it look brighter as mirrors reflect natural light. If you’re feeling adventurous, it’s worth getting some extra mirrors to use for table tops, too.
5 Go for multi-functional items. Get a storage box for a coffee table, for instance. This way, you can save space by shoving everything in there. Creative storage ideas can be aesthetically pleasing as well as very practical.
